YO NO TENGO LA CULPA DE HABER LEIDO A MENDICUTTI
Eduardo Mendicutti is the novelist who has best portrayed gay culture in Spain since the Transition. This book is a tribute to his figure and his work. In 2023, the year the author turned 75, one of his most emblematic novels, Los novios búlgaros, reached three decades of history.
A group of 18 writers who have grown up and recognized themselves as gay authors thanks to Mendicutti’s work come together in this volume to thank his literary and social commitment. Through stories and essays that analyze and celebrate the multiple voices present in his narrative career, this flock of palomos cojos from different generations highlights the decisive role played in their lives and writings by the author of Una mala noche la tiene cualquiera, Siete contra Georgia, and El palomo cojo.
Without Mendicutti, gay narrative in Spain would not be what it is today. Without Mendicutti, LGTBI people in Spain would hardly have seen many of the rights they enjoy today recognized.
