KaBoom!
Kaboom! (Axel Axpe, 2019) could appear as the caption beneath a painting displayed in a museum. We don’t know if that moment will come or if, on the contrary, the painting will never see the light of day. That same uncertainty is what the author faces, who has just turned eighteen and still cannot clearly distinguish his own horizon.
Too many shadows surround him. Axel’s apathy, his uncomfortable questions, and his impulsive behaviors hide more confusion than certainty, although those around him prefer to see him as a cheeky gym kid. Beneath that surface beats a deep conflict, difficult to name and even harder to share.
A work that addresses assertive communication and directly tackles the topic of suicidal thoughts, with an honest and uncompromising perspective.
The author, Iñigo Cobo, filmmaker and playwright, was a candidate for the 2020 Goya Awards. Co-founder of the Santurzine Festival in Santurtzi, his work connects with the details of everyday life and explores issues such as cultural identity and social inclusion. Through intergenerational influences, he combines his audiovisual vocation with the educational field, fundamental pillars of his training and creative production.
