Soon after moving to her native Beirut, Camille receives news: her father is dying of pulmonary emphysema. The illness pushes him to return to the place he hates most in the world: Punta de Mata, a town in eastern Venezuela where his parents emigrated fleeing the ravages of the Lebanese civil war. In that place, tyrannized by the harsh sun and by machismo as a social order, he soon learned that violence, disguised in jokes and humor, threatened his identity.
