A captivating mystery in 19th-century France
Paris, 1874. Louis and Christophe believe they are at their best. One owns the best-selling newspaper of the French Third Republic, and the other enjoys great success as a playwright in the capital’s café-theaters. Both are unaware of the outside reality, of the rumors pointing to them: they are in love.
However, an urgent telegram arrives in the early hours of May 9 at the newspaper’s editorial office. A childhood friend and close companion of Louis has died. The magnate does not know that he will soon be involved in a murder investigation and that his fate is about to be compromised by a threat from the past. Risking losing everything, he decides to move forward: Christophe’s life, his beloved, is in his hands.
“With a distinctive and elegant voice, the author immerses us in a captivating mystery in late 19th-century France” (Mila Martínez).
“One of the most interesting, original, and promising voices in contemporary Spanish literature” (Óscar Hernández–Campano).
