El viaje de Copperpot is the second studio album by La Oreja de Van Gogh, released on September 11, 2000, and recorded between May and July of the same year at Du Manoir studios (France), produced by Nigel Walker.

The album title references the film The Goonies, alluding to the treasure hunter Chester Copperpot, a nod that reinforces the album’s narrative dimension and its focus on everyday stories built from an emotional perspective.

The album features the lead vocals of Amaia Montero, a central figure in this phase of the group and key to defining their sonic identity.

The repertoire is structured around twelve compositions that consolidate their language within early 2000s pop rock and power pop. Tracks like “Cuídate”, “Soledad”, “París”, “La playa”, and “Pop” coexist with others such as “Dicen que dicen”, “Mariposa”, “La chica del gorro azul”, and “Tantas cosas que contar”, forming a coherent set based on straightforward melodies, recognizable choruses, and a narrative centered on personal relationships, emotional memory, and everyday experiences.

With this work, the band made a decisive leap in their career, achieving international projection that solidified their presence both in Spain and Latin America. Commercially, the album has sold over two million copies in Spain and ranks among the best-selling albums in the country’s history, reflecting its sustained impact within the national and international music scene.
