De puertas para adentro: Disidencia sexual y disconformidad de género en la tradición (COLECCION G)
This book offers a reading of the flamenco tradition that seeks to answer questions about the invisibility and display of homosexuality.
The essay is divided into three parts: first, it takes a look at some of the key figures in 20th-century flamenco singing and dancing (Antonio Mairena, Antonio Ruiz Soler, Carmen Amaya, etc.) as well as various copla singers (Miguel de Molina, Pedrito Rico, Rafael Conde, etc.). Secondly, drawing on the words and testimonies of contemporary flamenco artists (Belén Maya, Rocío Molina, Marco Flores, Daniel Doña, etc.), it analyzes how the issue of sexual visibility is addressed and resolved in their work. Finally, the analysis extracts some of the fundamental issues (both aesthetic and philosophical) related to homosexuality to explore them in greater detail.
